Presidential Candidates Missing Too Many Senate Elections?

Why are the presidential candidates missing so many Senate meetings and elections and getting away with it? Why isn't anyone saying anything about?

According to Foxnews.com, while the presidential candidates have been campaigning, six senators running for the presidency have missed a total of 131 votes so far this year. This amount comes out to about 17% of the total votes. Republican John McCain has missed the most votes with a total of 42, which is around 33%. Democrats Clinton and Obama have missed the least amount with three a piece. None of the senators have been finacially penalized for this, even though, a law was passed over 150 years ago that each absent senator be docked pay for each day they had missed. The reason for this, according to "The Politico," said the senators wisely added an exemption for themselves.

Is right for the senators to get away with this? As far as I know, these cadidates still have a job to do in the senate. Could these actions potentially reflect on the candidates presidency?GavelGavel
